16 Mohamed Ibn Thakeb St, Cairo

First morning in Cairo:

Upon moving into the dorms we were presented with a plastic shopping bag full of junk food and a bottle of water. Besides providing breakfast (above), this treasure trove lead to my discovery a new marketing technique Heinz is using to combat the loss in ketchup's market share to ranch dressing:

The picture shows a ketchup bottle pouring itself onto a potato chip (pronounced "sheepsee" in arabic) so I assumed the chips would be tomato flavored . . . but, it turns out they are plain chips with a ketchup packet included in the bag. This is a horrible idea as the whole reason people eat single serving bags of chips is because they are on the go and dipping the chips in ketchup (pouring the ketchup out of a packet onto a small oddly-shaped potato chip is next to impossible despite what the illustration suggests) requires additional utensils (that is, a bowl or dish) and one's full attention. The taste, however isn't bad and I can't blame Heinz for trying to cash in on the fried potatoes and ketchup thing . . . but this approach doesn't seem like a winner.
